PPOP RISING IN 2022

What a ride for the year 2022, as we witness the success of rising P-Pop from the groups that have performed well to the unprecedented increase of PPop fans, locally and globally. The widespread support of fans all around the world has never been done before, as major music festivals started to include PPop groups and artists in the lineup.

For the first time in history, more than 60 released PPop singles were made in this year, from established acts to underrated ones. Another achievement that featured more than 10 groups debuted this year, which are VXON, G22, KAIA, YGIG, and others. Reportedly almost 20 groups are about to debut – either "Online" or "Live", in 2023 or 2024.

Many PPop groups and artists enjoyed success in international level – such as appearance of SB19 and 1st.One in Billboard Hot Trending Songs Chart, featuring ALAMAT in an article in UK, BINI and BGYO enjoys charting success in international, MNL48 started to get fanbase in Indonesia, and many others.

PPOP Explosion was held in 2011, dedicated for PPop fans, in which the performers are XLR8, Pop Girls, and RPM. But in 2022, PPOP CON, Tugatog, and Popstival made it bigger. Those 3 music festivals became vital to the growing "PPop Rise '' movement, and around 20 PPop groups and artists participated.

The positive recognition of Pinoy pop in Philippine media this year became the biggest in recent years. For the first time, two talent survival shows (Dream Maker and Top Class) had been broadcasted this year. Many variety and entertainment shows started to give more space for PPop acts. Also for the first time, the latest edition of PPOP Awards are officially held in a live set-up.

The "PPop Rise" movement this year may even be bigger in the near future, as the Creative Industries Act of 2022, officially became a republic act last July, that serves as government's recognition of Original Pilipino Music (in which PPop included) and other fields of creative industry.

Truly this year, we witness the rise of Pinoy pop that can surely inspire more to be part of the industry. Either are aiming to be a performer, producer, songwriter, editor, and even media that are committed to make PPop better for the future.

PPOP is happening, PPOP is rising!
