22 PPOP SONGS OF '22

More than 60 songs are released this year, which leads to a successful year. And here we are to wrap the best songs of 2022. The songs will be only included from January 1 to December 15, and will be featured in chronological order. Maximum of two songs are only allowed for an artist.


Its pretty hard to choose the 22 best song in it, but here we are, the final cut is now official. Are you ready?


1. The Beast (VXON)


- 2022 opens as the "Monster Rookies of PPOP" arrived with their debut single "The Beast", last January 7. The song talks about a person unleashing the real self and to prove to the doubters and haters that they are wrong. Among PPOP rookies this year, VXON has the most songs produced so far, with 6.


2. Shout Out (1ST. ONE)


- Sumigaw shouted out! 1stOne released their highly-anticipated comeback, which was released last January 15. This song commemorates the Filipino soldiers who fought during the Battle of Yultong, which became one of the most crucial battles of the Korean War in the early 1950s. Recently, this song also became the 2nd song (after SB19) to land on Billboard Hot Trending Songs Chart.


3. La Luna (Pablo)


- Pablo (SB19) released his solo debut "La Luna", which was released on January 22. The song focused about the harsh experiences of self, and felt unloved to many, who became determined to be the best of himself. As of this writing, the music video has now more than 2 million views, and almost 5 million streams on Spotify.


4. Bang (G22)


- The "Female Alphas" arrived as they released their debut single "Bang", last February 25. The song represents women empowerment, that can stand any battle they could face. The music video has reached more than 1 million views.


5. ABKD (ALAMAT)


- Alamat dropped their single "ABKD" on February 14. The song speaks of motivation to go up and not to let you down, in a society full of "crab mentality". This song also supports the Aeta culture. It won "Song of The Year" for this year's PPOP Awards because of its cultural relevance.


6. No Way Man (MNL48)


- After more than a year from their last single "River", the long wait is over for MNLOVES, as MNL48 released "No Way Man" on April 1. The song tackles a person facing a direction that is unfamiliar for many, that are about to break boundaries and prejudice. This song serves as the first single under the new captain of the group, Shekinah Arcega.


7. Up! (BINI_ph, Bgyo_ph)


- BINI and BGYO collaborated for the first time for the funk-pop single "Up", which was released on April 1. The song inspires us to fly up to our dreams we achieve, even under pressure.


8. Bling Bling (DIONE)


- DIONE just arrived to shine as diamonds, as they released their debut single "Bling Bling", which released their lyric video on April 7. The song represents the silver lining that anyone can shine from nothing. The official music video has reached more than 1 million views.


9. Blah Blah (KAIA)


- After the successful pre-debut "Kaya", KAIA dropped their banger debut "Blah Blah" April 8. The song is mainly themed as a break-up song, a girl evolves herself to be stronger and not to devour from harsh pasts (especially love relationships). As of this writing, the official music video has now more than 800,000 views and more than 400,000 streams on Spotify.


10. Bulan (FELIP)


- After its successful debut solo "Palayo", FELIP takes his follow-up track to the next level. Inspired by "Bakunawa '' mythology, "Bulan '' depicts motivation and will to strive to the journey no matter how many doubters are there to pull down. FELIP became the first PPOP act to perform at Grammys Global Spin.


11. Na Na Na (BINI)


- Although the song was released last year as part of BINI's debut album "Born to Win", "Na Na Na" became a sleeper hit, thanks to viral challenge on TikTok around May, and eventually dropped a music video last June. The song focused on a person who fall in love with someone and causes an unexplainable expression to the one who falls in love. Due to its popularity on TikTok, it became the most used PPOP song on the said platform.


12. Tumitigil Ang Mundo (BGYO)


- The "Aces of PPOP" started off their new era with their comeback single "Tumitigil Ang Mundo". The song tackles about the first sight of love that – figuratively – the world stops around and becomes flattered to it. Lately, the song became part of the sophomore album "Be Us" last November.


13. I Wanna Know (BOIZ will be BOIZ)


- New PPOP group is set to make waves in the industry, "BOIZ", as they dropped their debut single "I Wanna Know", on July 31. The song tackles a boy that is already in love with a girl, and the man dared to express his love to her. Gas (also part of BOIZ) is the youngest PPOP idol, debuted at the age of 12.


14. Tapat Sa'yo (4th Impact)


- 4th Impact drops another outstanding ballad "Tapat Sa'yo", which was released on August 1. The song talks about the commitment of love that will never leave, no matter how the circumstances go. The group won "Female Group of The Year" for this year's PPOP Awards.


15. Patuloy Lang Ang Lipad (BGYO)


- BGYO released their single "Patuloy Lang Ang Lipad", which became the official theme song of superhero series "Darna". The song is themed about the pursuit to fly for the dreams, even though many will drag you down. As of this writing, the song got almost 1 million streams on Spotify.


16. ILY ILY (Alamat, Lyca Gairanod)


- Alamat and Lyca Gairanod dropped their classic Hiligaynon lullaby "ILY ILY", but this time, they revived it in a modern flavor. The song is dedicated to the OFWs who are doing their best for the future of family and children. ALAMAT had been featured in the British newspaper, The Guardian.


17. WYAT (SB19)


- SB19 finally drops their highly-anticipated comeback "WYAT", which was released on September 2. The song empowers the reconnection of one another, after the long overdue from the pandemic, and comforting to those who experience mental health struggles because of that. The group recently concluded their WYAT Tour after becoming successful within the span of 3 months.


18. Strings (BINI)


- We are hanging on to their shocker track "Strings", as they dropped ahead of their release of BINI's sophomore album "Feel Good". The song focused about the release from the chains of line, and ushering to overcome challenges in every level that stepped in. The "Nations Girl Group" won their "Pop Icon of the Year" award for this year's PPOP Awards.


19. Sambit (Press Hit Play)


- Press Hit Play released their long-awaited comeback "Sambit" on September 30. The song is dedicated to Pearls, the ones that stayed strong despite their circumstances. Also, this song is an inspiration for many to go for the dreams you want and claim it to be a victory. Prior to the release, PHP lost 2 of its members in a short amount of time.


20. Shaba Shaba (YGIG)


- YGIG is ready to charm the PPOP landscape, as they released their debut single "Shaba Shaba" on November 25. Originally phrased as "Siya ba?" ("Is he?" in English), the song has the spell of expressing and determining the best way to fall in love. YGIG became the first group from newfound agency, SBTown.


21. Take My Hand (All contestants of Dream Maker)


- 62 contestants are privileged to sing the theme song of the reality television show, Dream Maker. "Take My Hand" tackles pursuing the dreams, and having passion for what you love that can lead to success. The song was released on November 25, and the 7 chosen contestants will train in South Korea, and form a new global PPOP group under ABS-CBN and MLD Entertainment. 22. Nyebe (SB19)


- SB19 dropped their gospel-inspired track "Nyebe", which was released on December 12. The song talks about healing a person from the bottom heap of life, as Nyebe ("snowflake" in English) symbolizes the fragility of a person. Along with "WYAT", this song was first performed on Our Zone: 3rd Anniversary Concert last year.
